Frequently Asked Questions

Who can register with Acton Soccer Club?

We run house league programs for children/youth players, for those who will be five or older during the year of the season. So, for example, in 2007, those born in 2002 or earlier can play. Ladies league registers with Acton Soccer Club, the Acton men's team is run separately. Contact the Registrar at registrar@actonsoccer.org or leave your contact information at Dollar Stretcher Daze . For REGISTRATION INFO, visit the REGISTRATION PAGE.

Do they play out of town games?

Under-5 to Under-10 programs run in Acton. Under-12 and up play in other towns. Last year, for example, Under-12 boys played about 60% in Acton, plus Rockwood, Puslinch, and Grand Valley. Under-16 boys played games in Bolton, Georgetown, Erin, Grand Valley and Caledon.

How do you know which age group they will play in?

For the 2007 OUTDOOR SEASON, as an example, if the child is has their FIFTH BIRTHDAY sometime during 2007 (i.e. they were born in 2002) they are eligible for Under-5. Other birth years are as follows:

2002: Under 5
2001: Under 6
1999 – 2000: Under-8,
1997 - 98: Under-10,
1995 - 96: Under-12,
1993 - 94:Under-14,
1991 - 92:Under-16,
1989 - 90: Under-18,
1986 - 88 : Under-21

The easy way to work out the INDOOR AGE SYSTEM is that if you play in Under-5 in the summer, you play Under-6 the following winter season. Under-8 and Under-10 move to Under 11.

Special Requests.

There are no special requests for players to choose team mates or coaches this year. We will put children with parents if the parent is coaching, and we will put siblings on the same team as each other.

Requests for players to be in a higher age group - based on ability - will be considered carefully, and are usually (almost always) granted.

*** DUE TO ENORMOUS HEADACHES IN OTHER YEARS, WE WILL NO LONGER HONOR SOCIAL OR TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS. MOST OTHER LOCAL SOCCER CLUBS HAVE BEEN WORKING THIS WAY FOR YEARS. ***

Note that for Under-10 and younger, all players have the same schedule whatever team they are on. Older age groups should be able to car pool, parents can figure this out at practices and games.

Which Age Groups are Mixed?

Under-10 and younger play with mixed teams. Older ages are segregated into boys and girls.

What nights are practices and games?

Until we know how many teams will play, we can't schedule the fixtures or the fields.

TENTATIVELY, though, we are aiming for:
Under 5: Mondays.
Under 6: Wednesdays.
Under-8: Practice Wednesdays, Games Mondays.
Under-10: Tuesdays
and Thursdays (one day is a practice the other a game)

Under 12 and up: We try to avoid Friday evenings. Since Under-12 and older are traveling teams, the away games may not be on the same night each week. Practice times will be set by your coach with team input.

Is there a Rep program?

No, this year there won't be a rep program. Contact other clubs (Guelph, Georgetown, Milton), or very talented players can often move up in age group within Acton's house league program.
